Thisantibodyisdesigned,produced,andvalidatedaspartofacollaborationbetweenRocklandandtheNationalCancerInstitute(NCI).ACSS2(Acyl-CoAsynthetaseshort-chainfamilymember2)isaproteincodinggeneencodingacytosolicenzymethatcatalyzestheactivationofacetateforuseinlipidsynthesisandenergygeneration.Thisproteinactsasamonomerandproducesacetyl-CoAfromacetateinareactionthatrequiresATP.Expressionofthisgeneisregulatedbysterolregulatoryelement-bindingproteins,transcriptionfactorsthatactivategenesrequiredforthesynthesisofcholesterolandunsaturatedfattyacids.Thisproteinisupregulatedinmanycancersandisimportantforpro-survivalunderhypoxicconditions.ACSS2maybeassociatedwithdisorderssuchasCystoisosporiasis.Anti-ACSS2Antibodyisusefulforresearchersinterestedinparasites,intestines,GlucoseEnergyMetabolism,andAKTresearch.
